The Toyota Tundra is a full-size pickup truck that has something for everyone. Whether you're looking for a truck to assist at a worksite, enjoy going off-roading on the weekends, or want something comfortable to drive around town in, the Tundra has you covered. If you're looking for a truck that can tow, the Tundra is a winner there as well. With 12 different trim levels, the Tundra's towing capacity ranges from 8,300 to 12,000 pounds. That means a Tundra can tow your boat for a weekend outing, a camper for an outdoor adventure, or your building materials for a work site. more Toyota Tundra's Towing Features The Toyota Tundra is designed with towing in mind. Advanced towing technology works with the engine to optimize towing performance. When a trailer is connected to the Tundra's seven-pin connector, the computer automatically calculates the length of the trailer and adjusts the throttle response accordingly. These improvements to towing capabilities set the newer Tundras apart from the older versions. If you remember not being impressed with the towing capacity of the Tundra in the past, you'll be pleasantly surprised with the improvements that have been made since the 2022 model overhaul. The 2023 model has the highest towing capacity yet, making it the perfect year to purchase a Tundra if you're looking for a truck that can tow all your gear. Engine and Performance The 2023 Toyota Tundra keeps it simple with engine options. After all, if something works, you want to stick with it. All Tundras come equipped with either a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 or a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 hybrid, and both are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The engine on the base trim of the Tundra, the SR, operates with 348 horsepower and 405 lb-ft of torque. The other non-hybrid trims increase power slightly to 389 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque. The hybrid engine includes an electric motor that's integrated into the transmission, creating the ability to drive using just electric power at lower speeds. The hybrid V-6 engine is the most powerful of all, generating 437 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque. The suspension of the Tundra received a major overhaul in 2022, and the 2023 version continues to utilize a rear coil-spring suspension system. This upgrade from the old leaf-spring design creates a much smoother ride and improves handling capabilities. Towing Capacity by Trim Level The towing capacity for a Toyota Tundra varies by engine and cab size. Since there are so many variations of the Tundra available to choose from, it's important to know the towing capacities of each configuration to help you make your decision. If towing isn't something you're interested in, it might not be necessary to pay for one of the more expensive trim levels. On the other hand, if towing is something you plan to do often, you want to make sure you choose a trim level that meets your needs. Tundra SR The base model of the Tundra is the SR. Trim options include double cab or crew cab, 5.5-foot, 6.5-foot, and 8.1-foot bed options, and rear-wheel-drive or four-wheel-drive capabilities. California Electric Vehicle Tax Credit
California's government is known for promoting sustainable practices and eco-friendly initiatives, and it's now supporting green energy by offering electric vehicle (EV) tax credits. For consumers who are considering purchasing an EV, this could be the perfect time to make the switch to clean transportation. In this article, we answer questions that you may have about this tax credit initiative and discuss whether you may be eligible for similar schemes in the California area. more What Is a Tax Credit? A tax credit is a direct reduction in the amount of tax you owe to the government. Unlike deductions or exemptions, tax credits reduce your tax liability by the exact credit amount, dollar for dollar. This means that if you're eligible for a tax credit of $1,000, your overall tax bill will decrease by that same amount. What Is the California EV Tax Credit? Technically speaking, there are no EV tax credit programs in California. Instead, there are state- and county-level incentives and rebates. These are designed to encourage the adoption of EVs by providing financial relief to consumers who purchase or lease eligible electric cars. You can combine these rebates or incentives with other federal tax credits to further reduce the overall cost of transitioning to an EV. The amount varies depending on the battery capacity of the vehicle, so you'll typically receive a larger reward for a vehicle with a greater electric range. What Is the Federal EV Tax Credit? Known as the clean vehicle credit, the federal EV tax credit is a nationwide incentive that offers a reduction in your federal taxes when you purchase an eligible EV. Aimed at encouraging people to choose clean transportation options, the credit ranges from $2,500 to $7,500, depending on the car's range and capacity. Unlike the state-level incentives and rebates found in California, this credit applies throughout the country, allowing more customers to take advantage of the potential savings. If you combine both federal and state incentives, switching to an EV becomes the more affordable and environmentally responsible choice. Who Is Eligible for the Federal EV Tax Credit? There are certain conditions that you must meet to qualify for the federal EV tax credit. Unlike before, some EVs face disqualification based on their MSRP. Specifically, to be eligible for the tax credit, the MSRP of your EV must be equal to or lower than these amounts: $55,000 for electric cars. $80,000 for zero-emission SUVs, vans, or trucks. There are also personal income restrictions to consider. Starting January 1, 2023, not all EV buyers can claim this credit. Only those who make less than these figures annually will be eligible: Single filers: $150,000. Joint filers: $300,000. Head-of-household filers: $225,000. Which EVs Are Eligible for the Federal EV Tax Credit? This year, new conditions have been put in place by the government that effectively reduce the number of customers who qualify for tax credits upon purchasing an EV. The list of vehicles has become shorter, with only EVs assembled in North America and bought between August 17 and December 31, 2022, being eligible. So far, these are the 2022 and 2023 EVs on the list: Audi Q5. BMW 330e. BMW X5 xDrive45e plug-in hybrid. Chrysler Pacifica plug-in hybrid. Ford E-Transit. Ford Escape plug-in hybrid. Ford F-150 Lightning. Ford Mustang MACH-E. Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe. Jeep Wrangler 4xe. Lincoln Aviator plug-in hybrid. Lincoln Corsair plug-in hybrid. Lucid Air. Mercedes EQS SUV. Nissan Leaf. Rivian electric delivery van. Rivian R1S. Rivian R1T. Volvo S60 Recharge. If you want to know which Toyota vehicles qualify for a tax credit, incentive, or rebate, contact us at Dublin Toyota today. We'll be happy to chat with you about the incentives that are available in Dublin and other parts of California. What Is the California Clean Fuel Reward? The clean fuel reward is an incentive given by the state to consumers who buy an eligible EV from a participating car dealership in California. The maximum amount you can get is $750. However, the program is inactive at this time. What Is the California Clean Vehicle Rebate Program? The California Clean Vehicle Rebate Program (CCVRP) is a subsidy program for California residents who buy eligible EVs. In February this year, the state's Air Resources Board increased the rebate amount for purchasing low- and zero-emission vehicles by $3,000. This means that you can now receive a maximum of $7,500 for a qualifying EV. Depending on what car you purchase, these are the maximum rebate amounts you can hope to receive: $7,500 for purchasing battery-electric or hydrogen-fuel-cell vehicles. $6,500 for purchasing plug-in hybrid cars. It's important to note that these rebates don't just apply to vehicle purchases. If you lease an electric car over a duration of at least 30 months, you're also entitled to this incentive. This flexibility allows consumers to enjoy the benefits of eco-friendly transportation without committing to full EV ownership. Who Is Eligible To Receive CCVRP Rebates? EVs are often more expensive than traditional gasoline-powered cars. This can put them out of reach of many consumers, especially those who are on a tight budget. The rebate program aims to make these cars more affordable for these customers, so it's only available to individuals with low to moderate incomes. If your gross annual household income falls below these thresholds, you'll be able to qualify for the rebate: Single filers: $135,000. Head-of-household filers: $175,000. Joint filers: $200,000. Which Vehicles Are Eligible for CCVRP Rebates? There are more EVs that qualify for CCVRP than are eligible for the federal EV tax credit.
